In the early hours of May 11th, 2012, a distressed call from anguished parents was answered by a 999 operator. The father, Mick Philpott, was heard shouting that his 6 of his children were trapped inside their family home which was ferociously ablaze. While his wife, Mauraid, frantically explained to the operator what had happened, neighbours and friends of the family desperately tried to find a way into the house to save the six young children that remained inside. Despite the best efforts of the local community and the rescue services, tragically, Jade Philpott, aged 10, and her brothers John (9), Jack (7), Jesse (6), and Jayden (5) were pronounced dead on the scene, with their half-brother Duwayne (13) dying in hospital two days later.What had caused this terrible tragedy and who was to blame?
