Trent Angers, a journalist and biographer joins the show to share the story of Kermit Parker, believed to be the most innocent man in Angola prison. Parker has served 35 years for the 1988 murder of Baton Rouge police officer Warren Broussard—a crime Angers and others insist he did not commit. Evidence now shows Parker was wrongfully convicted while the actual shooter confessed, failed lie detector tests, and had gunpowder residue on his hands. The shooter received immunity after allegedly being tortured in a facility known as the “Brave Cave.” Dale Brown, who has helped free other wrongfully convicted individuals, became involved through his visits to Angola and enlisted Angers to investigate. A petition for a new trial has been filed with the Louisiana Supreme Court, citing exculpatory evidence and inadequate legal representation. The current District Attorney, Hillar Moore, was not involved in the original prosecution, but Angers believes his office now holds the power to correct this injustice.
