Episode 33 (Part 1): Blessed to be MOMMY, with Missy Burkhardt.

No matter how you shake it, being called Mommy is a blessing. We never really know how it will all turn out when we are dreaming about becoming a mom. I'd say for most, the dream begins with a wedding, followed by a pregnancy and a delivery, and ultimately, motherhood. Right?

That's just how our friend Missy pictured it would be.

Never in our wildest dreams do we think of the obstacles that oftentimes come into play when wanting to start a family. Like, how challenging it is for so many to conceive a child. It's a true reality for many couples. This reality, however, leads to a whole different kind of blessing. The blessing of redirecting your purpose. The blessing of looking at, perhaps, a totally different way of bringing a baby into your life. And suddenly, you become a Mommy to a child who needs you, just as much as you needed them. You have the honor and the privilege of being blessed by adoption. Join us, as we have the privilege of hearing our friend Missy's beautiful love story of how her family began.

Episode 31 (part 2): More alike than Different with Abby Arnett.

Fussy babies. Babies that don't want to sleep. Babies that don't want to latch on while breast feeding. Babies that meet milestones just a little behind schedule.....These are all very typical things that many parents can experience. They aren't always a warning sign. They are often times seen as normal. But Abby wasn't convinced. After being referred to several different specialists, looking for answers as to why Ashley wasn't meeting milestones......they came upon a diagnosis of Williams Syndrome.

Listen in as Abby explains her experience with her blossoming 10 year old. Yes, there are challenges, but Abby knows that the sky's the limit for Ashley. Ashley is a thriving 10 year old who is a gymnast in the Special Olympics. She's a social butterfly. And she has a very detailed love for cars. A total package of blessings.

Episode 31 (part 1): More alike than Different with Melissa Dominick.

When our lives go in a direction we never imagined, it can be scary. Fear of what we don't understand causes us to MATURE and to GROW, emotionally and spiritually and physically. Bill and Melissa were newlyweds embarking on the world of parenthood, when a diagnosis of Down Syndrome for their unborn child had them facing that "fear of the unknown."

Episode 29: Are your kids financially literate? Do you struggle with the idea behind Common Core? This episode is for everyone out there struggling with everything MATH.

We interviewed Lindsay Gold. Lindsay is a PhD, who felt a strong desire to TEACH teachers how to teach MATH. She even wrote a book called On the Money for K-5th grade, which promotes financial literacy. 

Lindsay is the mom of 12 year old triplet, girls. She uses their unique and individual math journeys to paint a picture of the different ways our children learn math. Such a great listen. I hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Episode 28: Purpose over Perfection.

Do you find yourself basking in the glow of your perfect Instagram page? The "perfection" of your highlight reel on full display and Pinterest worthy? I personally find it to be exhausting. Yet we all continue to "appear" fabulously put together. Smiles on point. Fully engaged in "all the things." Picture of perfection.

But what if your world gets flip turned upside-down with unexpected tragedy and everything you thought was once important was suddenly very unimportant. Maybe you find yourself looking through the lens of your life from a very different vantage point?

Meet our friend Katie, as she describes her life after tragedy, and how suddenly she realized that the things she thought were so important aren't the things that are important after all. Her life takes on new purpose and she finds herself adjusting to a new normal. Her blessings are abundant and her priorities are somehow still in check.

Episode 27: Confessions of a former Mean Girl.

Who is thankful for learning from our past? For change? For becoming better versions of ourselves? Well, Katie and I are so blessed by the changes we can see as we've matured into the women we are today, as well as the women we have yet to become! Join us as we discuss how Katie used some of her pain as a shield to protect herself from being hurt. She shielded herself with being mean to others. It was her way of protecting herself. Can you think of ways you may have used being a Mean Girl to hide behind the reality of your life? I think we all can. 

It's so interesting getting to hear her perspective on who she used to be and how she has been able to move the mountains of her past to grow into an amazing human, who is eager to help her daughters through the pain of their inevitable Mean Girls. As per usual, our experiences are quite different. We hope this episode stirs something up inside of you to reflect on how far you've come.

She's 33. She's a homeschooling momma of 2 girls. She's full of spunk. And she officiates funerals.
