The Moving Pictures Podcast

Welcome to the closing of season 2 of The Moving Pictures Podcast. I am so excited for you all to hear this extra long episode where I discuss a horror classic, The Shining, and its 40-year apart sequel, Doctor Sleep. I hope you get as much joy out of listening about these movies as I did researching and talking about them. And if you haven’t seen The Shining, what are you doing?! Here’s to Season 2 and many more to come!

As we start wrapping up Season 2 of The Moving Pictures Podcast, I wanted to discuss the new(ish) British psychological thriller Last Night in Soho to lead us into the ultimate horror film for next week’s episode. If you like psychological films, thrillers, or horror films, this is the movie for you! Check out this chaotic solo episode if you dare.

Please welcome my guests, Nathan and Courtney Holtzclaw, to this impromptu mini interview episode! I had my brother and sister-in-law answer some questions and send me voice notes specifically for this episode which I’m calling a follow-up. As the resident Marvel fanatics in my circle of family and friends, I just couldn’t resist changing plans. Enjoy three Holtzclaw weirdos talking up a storm!

This week I felt like discussing a crime thriller/drama and I picked this (relatively) new one starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Listen to me drink some red wine and tell you all of my opinions as well as a nice little history lesson. Enjoy ;)

I haven’t talked about a horror movie in almost 10 episodes so I figured now was as good a time as any to bring some thrill into your lives with Ready or Not (2019). From the same directors who brought you Scream 5, Ready or Not dives into a scary social commentary while also bringing up all of your childhood fears of being chased. In my own words, “It’s really cool!” Enjoy :)

This week is part 2 of discussing Promising Young Woman and boy, is this a good discussion. My guest and I analyze the seriousness of this social commentary and relate it back to our own lives. Trigger Warning for SA, abuse, and r*pe. Listener discretion is advised. This episode is not suitable for children.

I discuss and analyze Promising Young Woman by myself, saving the final (and best) scene for next week. Delicious!

Welcome back to another history lesson episode full of random facts about romantic comedies. Although it’s a short one this week, I had to talk about early 2000’s romantic comedies as a whole genre rather than discuss only one movie — I just couldn’t pick! Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and leave a review. Love you guys ;)

Lots of you guys have been asking me questions about myself as your host and why I started this podcast. So here you go! A mini-episode dedicated to talking about myself and the movies/tv-shows I love the most. Enjoy this casual style recording via voice memos as I’m on vacation with my friend Abbie. Xo
