In May of 2020, Nicholas Cordova was at his office in Gilbert, Arizona, on a FaceTime call with his two young children, when suddenly, one of the children told their mother, Nicholas' wife, Alysha, that "something was wrong with dad." Alysha took the phone to see that some sort of struggle was happening, and immediately called 911. When police arrived on scene, they discovered that Nicholas had been shot twice and was lying dead outside his office building. During an investigation, some strange things would come to light about Nicholas' business partner, David.
