In today’s episode, we’re gonna talk about why I think it’s good to stay independent.
- As an independent artist, you have total control over your career
- Be as creative as you want
- Up to you if you want to change direction
- Adopt a new musical style
- If you’re good and you’re consistent, labels will start to seek you out
- Release when and where you want. There’s no time schedule (single, EP, albums)
- Able to express yourself
- Setup Patreon and collect on a monthly basis
You own 100% of the copyright
- This means you earn more
- You’re able to do more collaborations and still earn more
- You determine how much other artists and producers make
- You can spend more on branding and ads
- More chance of going full time
- You have creative control of your merchandise
- You make money when your track is played obscure places (Karaoke, internet radio, podcasts and YT),
- You did this on your own (climbed the mountain, reached the peak)
