About our Channel:

Mystai is a platform for the revival of the forgotten side of history, philosophy and esoterica. We make videos on ancient texts, concepts and ideas with the goal of breaking down some of the more dense & confusing aspects of history to give you access to the awesome transformation it all contains. We don't want you to just learn "about" spirituality, self development or transformational science, we want you to embody it, understand them & use them, directly from the sources themselves. We cover everything from Religion, Alchemy, Magic, Kabbalah, Mysticism, Hermetic Philosophy, Theosophy, the Occult & modern spiritualities that you can use to empower your transformation & self-development. Pop Spirituality movements have appropriated and flooded the space of self development with cultural appropriation, misinformation & pseudo-science. We're here to change that.

I talk about ancient magic in the material record, theurgy & philosophy as well as theoretical approaches to the study of esotericism. I take special notice of Neoplatonism & Hermetism and make content relating to these currents using academic material. This week we're joined by the incredible Dr Lynne Kelly! I remember hearing about Lynne's work during my time on excavation and was completely taken with it. She has spent decades working with indigenous communities around the world, especially Australian Aborigines, to study how they codify memory, transmit knowledge and connect to their landscape. In this episode we talk about the different forms of memory, how indigenous communities can remember generations of information and encode knowledge in the landscape itself to have what on the surface looks like super-human memory.

We then unpack the importance of these natural trained memory systems as it pertains to ritual and archaeology before concluding with how to go about training your own memory.
