Cs: Táhlo už do večera, když se před vchodem do dětského domova v Praze objevil záhadný cizinec.
En: It was nearing evening when a mysterious stranger appeared in front of the entrance to the children's home in Praha.
Cs: V náručí měl těžký balík.
En: He was carrying a heavy package in his arms.
Cs: Beze slov ho položil ke dveřím a rychle zmizel kolem rohu staré budovy.
En: Without a word, he placed it by the door and quickly disappeared around the corner of the old building.
Cs: Nová sněhová pokrývka se potichu usazovala na střechách starých domů a zamrzlých loužích.
En: A new snow cover quietly settled on the roofs of old houses and frozen puddles.
Cs: Dětský domov byl velký, starý dům s vysokými stropy a vrzajícími dřevěnými podlahami.
En: The children's home was a large, old house with high ceilings and creaky wooden floors.
Cs: Jakub, dvanáctiletý kluk s hnědými vlasy a velkými zvědavými očima, si všiml balíku hned, jak vyhlédl z okna na ulici.

Cs: Chce zjistit, co je uvnitř.
En: He wanted to find out what was inside.
Cs: Ale krabice byla zamčená a klíč chyběl.
En: But the box was locked, and the key was missing.
Cs: Nepřítomnost klíče ale neodradila Jakuba.
En: The absence of the key didn't deter Jakub.
Cs: Rozhodl se najít odpovědi.
En: He decided to find answers.
Cs: Hledal kolem domova, ptal se ve čtvrti, snažil se přijít na stopu cizince, který balík přinesl.
En: He searched around the home, asked around the district, trying to track down the stranger who brought the package.

Cs: Když už se zdálo, že nález klíče je nemožný, objevil Jakub náhodou v křesle na trávníku starou knihu.

En: When he opened it, an old key fell out of a hollow space.
