Let's talk about something that bugs me: this idea of a "political savior" in American politics, especially within the Democratic Party. I see us constantly drawn to charismatic figures like Pete Buttigieg and Gavin Newsom, and sometimes we completely miss out on candidates like Wes Moore, who have a lot to offer. This whole focus on personality is a distraction. It takes away from the real, hard work we need to do to build political power and infrastructure. Everyday people need to get involved, organize at the grassroots level, and support leaders who can actually build movements, not just fan bases.

  • Building political power requires grassroots organizing and infrastructure.
  • The GOP is actively planning while Democrats chase media-friendly figures.
  • Real leadership is about movement-building, not just popularity.
  • Voter engagement and protection are crucial for future elections.
  • The seductive nature of the savior myth can lead to political passivity.
  • It's time to shift the narrative from waiting for a savior to taking action.
