In which the steadfast Hercules encounters the Old Man of the Sea, a mutable and elusive being, to learn the way to the garden of the Hesperides, and later, upon a mysterious journey, meets the colossal giant Atlas, burdened with the heavens upon his shoulders, who offers to retrieve the golden apples in exchange for a temporary relief from his celestial load. With measured patience and strength, Hercules undertakes the mighty task of upholding the sky, whilst Atlas fetches the apples, leading to a moment of poignant reflection on duty and endurance beneath the vast and luminous canopy of the world.
