The Nkabinde Commission of Inquiry has cleared Advocate Andrew Chauke, finding him fit and proper to continue serving as the Director of Public Prosecutions for the South Gauteng Division and as a member of the National Prosecuting Authority. President Cyril Ramaphosa established the inquiry after suspending Chauke in July 2025 over allegations relating to his fitness to hold office.

DRC opposition postpones protest after Tshisekedi announces national dialogue

The Democratic Republic of Congo's main opposition coalition, known as the C64 platform, has postponed a protest after President Félix Tshisekedi announced the imminent launch of a national dialogue, a move cautiously welcomed as a possible opening in the country's deepening political stand-off.

The C64 platform, which brings together several opposition parties, had called on supporters to march in Kinshasa on 22 July to defend the Constitution and oppose any attempt to extend Tshisekedi’s time in power.

Kenyan lawyers launch nationwide strike over judicial corruption and delays

Lawyers in Kenya launched a nationwide court boycott on Wednesday to protest judicial corruption and chronic delays.

Cases in the country take an average of two years to conclude, and lawyers say corruption and systematic inefficiencies are to blame.

"The court boycott is going on in courts across the country, with many lawyers heeding the call," Charles Kanjama, the president of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), told reporters.
