1. Tanzania – Dar es Salaam
Tanzania partially restores internet access, warns against image sharing
The government in Tanzania has warned people not to share photos and videos that may cause panic as the internet slowly returns after a six-day shutdown during deadly protests that began on election day.
- DR Kongo- North Kivu
The AFC/M23 rebellion continues to establish a parallel judicial system in territories it controls in North Kivu, a move Kinshasa authority have condemned as illegal. The group recently inducted 378 new magistrates after a selection process, with results announced Monday evening in Goma.
3.USA- Sudan
The United States says it is working with both the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to secure a humanitarian truce. This follows a sharp escalation in bloodshed in the conflict after RSF fighters captured the North Darfur region’s capital, al-Fashir, following an 18-month siege.
- In our historical archives, it was on this 5 November 1987 when the ANC stalwart and Rivonia Trialist, Govan Mbeki was released from Robben Island Prison His release followed a call for all political prisoners to be freed, as apartheid was dying.
Upon his release the government restricted him to the magisterial district of Port Elizabeth until November 1989.
