Cameroon opposition candidate Issa Tchiroma Bakary claimed victory Tuesday in the Oct. 12 presidential election ahead of the release of official results, urging President Paul Biya, the world’s oldest president, to concede.

Madagascar's President Andry Rajoelina dissolved the country's national assembly — the lower house of parliament — with immediate effect on Tuesday, the presidency said in a statement published on Facebook.
The move escalates a standoff between the president, youth-led protesters, and the military which forced him to flee the country.
