1.    Malawi- Lilongwe

Malawi's former president Peter Mutharika has taken an early lead in this week's election, according to provisional results.

In his face off against incumbent Lazarus Chakwera, Mutharika has roughly 51 percent of votes cast in a quarter of the nation’s councils, compared to 39 percent for Chakwera, Reuters reported on Sunday.

Election observers had predicted that the September 16 vote would be a two-horse race between Mutharika and Chakwera, the candidates for Malawi’s two biggest parties.

 

2.Ivory Coast – Abidjan 

Former Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo has stated that he will not endorse any candidate in the forthcoming presidential election.

Despite being declared ineligible to run in the upcoming election, Gbagbo has announced that he will not support any of the candidates approved by the Constitutional Council.

His party spokesperson, Me Habiba Touré, stated that a lack of consensus and legitimacy among the candidates prevented any endorsement."

 

3.    Cameroon- Yaoundé-Switzerland 

 Brenda Biya says” to not vote for her father” President Paul Biya

The president's only daughter published a video on social media in which she appealed to voters and told them to not cast their ballot for her father in the upcoming presidential election.

Paul Biya, incumbent president of Cameroon, might have not imagined his campaign for his planned seventh re-election as president to take such a turn.

1.    Malawi – Lilongwe 

Malawians have decided and now unofficial Results Tip Former Leader Peter Mutharika to Win the Presidency

Unofficial results from several constituencies in three of Malawi's four regions (provinces) indicate that former President Peter Mutharika is poised to win the presidency with a majority vote.

 Having graduated from a Catholic school and the Government Training College in Acca, he worked as a teacher for several years. At age 26, he travelled to the US to continue his education.
