1. Central Afrikan Republic - Bangui

Central African Republic declares three days of national mourning following stampede

The Central African Republic has declared 3 days of mourning after an explosion and the stampede that followed killed at least 29 schoolchildren and injured more than 250 at a high school in the capital city, Bangui.

2. Burundi – Bujumbura

Burundi calls on United Nations to recognize 1972 genocide against Hutus

Burundi is urging the United Nations to officially recognize the mass killings of Hutus in 1972–1973 as a genocide, over five decades after the violence claimed tens of thousands of lives.

3. South Afrika – DR Congo

Cabinet has been briefed on the phased arrival of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) troops from the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

This follows the Southern African Development Community (SADC) decision to terminate the Southern African Development Community Mission in the DRC (SAMIDRC) intervention.
