First batch of 273 Ugandans arrives from South Africa amid unrest
A total of 273 Ugandan nationals arrived at Entebbe International Airport aboard a special Uganda Airlines charter flight in the early hours of Friday, marking the first phase of the government's voluntary repatriation programme.
Uganda has launched the first phase of a large-scale evacuation of its citizens from South Africa, bringing home 273 nationals amid rising anti-illegal immigration protests and xenophobic violence.
More charter flights are planned as hundreds more Ugandans seek voluntary repatriation.

A war veteran has filed an urgent High Court application seeking to stop the certification and further processing of the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment Bill No.3 (CAB3), arguing that the parliamentary vote that passed the proposed law was unlawfully tainted by gifts received from controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo.
Reuben Zulu filed the urgent chamber application in the High Court in Harare against CCC legislator Samantha Murenyanyi, Zanu PF Bindura South MP Remigious Matangira, the Clerk of Parliament, the Speaker of Parliament and Parliament of Zimbabwe.

4. In our historical archives, it was yesterday 5 July 1990 when Teboho Macdonald “Tsietsi” Mashinini dies in Guinea- Conakry, West Africa. June 16 revolutionary student leader Cde Teboho “Tsietsi” Mashinini died under strange circumstances in Conakry, Guinea. Mashinini was hospitalised with multiple injuries, apparently sustained following an attack – he died a few days after his admission into hospital.
