Angola ends mediation role in the DRC-Rwanda conflict amid failed talks
Angola has announced its decision to end its mediation efforts in the ongoing conflict involving the M23 rebels, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and Rwanda, citing a series of failed negotiations and external interference.
- DR Congo - EAC, SADC Virtual Second Joint Summit
Heads of State and Government from the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) will convene their second joint summit on Monday evening to address the security situation in Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
The virtual summit was co-chaired by President William Ruto, who also serves as the EAC Chairperson, and Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the SADC Chairperson.
- Ghana, Russia- Morocco
Ghana and Morocco have agreed to take steps toward waiving visa requirements for all travellers between the two countries, a move aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties.
Separately, Ablakwa met with Russia’s Ambassador to Ghana, Sergei Berdnikov, to discuss bilateral cooperation. He reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to neutrality and its role as a voice for global peace.
- Afrika-Global and Continental Cybercrime Crackdown Operation:
Authorities in seven African nations have arrested 306 suspects and seized 1,842 devices in a major international crackdown on cyber-enabled scams.
The operation, backed by INTERPOL’s African Joint Operation against Cybercrime (AFJOC) and the UK Foreign Office, was supported by cybersecurity firms Group-IB, Kaspersky, and Trend Micro.
Between November 2024 and February 2025, Operation Red Card targeted cross-border fraud networks exploiting mobile banking, investment platforms, and messaging apps, with more than 5,000 victims identified.
