1. Ghana – Accra
Discontent runs high as Ghana readies to vote on Saturday
Public frustration over Ghana's economic travails, including high prices and a dearth of jobs, has dominated the run-up to Saturday's general election, which will likely test the nation's longstanding democratic credentials.
2. USA- Angola- DR Congo
Biden, Lourenço, Tshisekedi tour Lobito port
U.S. President Joe Biden toured the Lobito port that will provide an outlet on the Atlantic Ocean and ideally a route to the West for Africa's minerals and other exports. Under a towering blue crane, a banner read: “The Lobito Corridor Connecting Africa from the Atlantic to the Indian Ocean.”
3. Mozambique – Maputo
Mozambique opposition calls for new protests as post-vote tensions escalate
More than fifty days after Mozambique's election, the fight over the vote's outcome has not subsided. This week, the opposition presidential candidate and runnerup in the October 8 election called for new protests.
4. Algeria – South Afrika
President Ramaphosa to undertake a State Visit to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria today
President Cyril Ramaphosa will, at the invitation of His Excellency, Mr Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, undertake a State Visit to Algeria from 05 to 07 December 2024.
5. In our historical archives, it was on this day 5 December 1924 when Bawo Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe was born in Graaff-Reinet a town in the Eastern Cape Province and 5 December 2013 when Tata Nelson Mandela died in the evening.
