1. Mozambique- Maputo 

Mozambique counts votes amid allegations of irregularities 

Votes were being counted by Mozambique's national election authorities on Thursday as civil society monitors were compiling a parallel tally to try to detect possible signs of fraud. 

The Southern African country voted on Wednesday in a national election that is widely expected to see the ruling Frelimo party extend its 49 years in power. Frelimo has been consistently accused of rigging elections, which it denies. 

1. Egypt, Eritrea and Somalia agree to boost security cooperation

The presidents of Somalia, Eritrea, and Egypt have agreed to boost cooperation for regional security amid heightened tensions in the Horn of Africa. 

The three-way summit, held in the Eritrean capital, Asmara, on Thursday, was called by Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki and included his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Somalia’s Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

Obed Bapela embarrasses ANC with Algerian and Western Sahara allies 

ANC NEC member and chair of the party’s International Relations Subcommittee, Obed Bapela, is facing criticism over a "private family" trip to Morocco, where he allegedly misrepresented the ANC’s policies. 

Bapela visited Morocco on October 7, holding talks with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita. During their meeting, Bapela emphasized the need to strengthen economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. He also extended an invitation to Moroccan companies to invest in South Africa.
