1. China -Afrika 2024 Summit (FOCAC)

President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan hosted a banquet last night in the Great Hall of the People in central Beijing to welcome leaders for the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. 

During the three-day summit, leaders of some 50 African countries will discuss cooperation over the next few years on areas including agriculture, security and industrialization. 

1. Uganda – Bulindo, Wakiso District

Ugandan opposition leader Bobi Wine was shot in the leg during a clash with police near Kampala, leaving him "seriously injured," according to his party, the National Unity Video footage showed Wine, also known as Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, being helped into a car by supporters after the incident in Bulindo, Wakiso District. 

 It is unclear whether he was hit by a bullet or a tear gas canister, but images showed a bleeding wound below his left knee. 

1. DR Congo -Kinshasha

Democratic Republic of Congo, the epicentre of an mpox outbreak that prompted a U.N. declaration of a global public health emergency, said it expects to receive its first delivery of vaccine doses on today and a second delivery on Saturday.  

1. Burkina Faso- Ouagadougou or Wagadugu

Burkina Faso has launched new biometric passports without the logo of West Africa's main political and economic bloc on their cover, further signalling its determination to withdraw from the regional alliance after military leaders took power in a coup.
