1. South Afrika – Cape Town – The Post 16th Thabo Mbeki Afrika Day Lecture Series, Town Hall and Student Dialogues today
Delivering the keynote address on “Rebuilding African Unity in an Age of Fragmentation,” Prof Kayode Fayemi, former Governor of Ekiti State, Nigeria, said that it is impossible to engage in any conversation about African unity without addressing the question of solidarity, as solidarity is the moral foundation upon which it rests.
2. Senegal – Dakar
Senegal President Bassirou Diomaye Faye on Friday dismissed Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and dissolved the government, a move that risks deepening uncertainty in a country already grappling with a debt crisis and drawn-out talks with the International Monetary Fund. A statement read on state media said all ministers had been dismissed, with the outgoing government tasked with handling day-to-day affairs, according to Oumar Samba Ba, the secretary-general of the presidency.
