Voters in Vuwani outside Thohoyandou in Limpopo have started voting despite a boycott by some residents. The chairperson of the Task Team, Takalani Mukhudi has confirmed that its spokesperson, Arnold Mulaudzi was arrested on Tuesday night. This follows reports that he was forcibly taken away from his house by people who claimed to be police officers, and his whereabouts were unknown. Due to the closure of more mines in the Gold fields, the unemployment rate has gone up significantly in Northern Free State. The Coloured community in Bronville, Welkom threatened to boycott the general elections as they say they are side-lined by the ANC government. An alleged plan by Harmony Mine to evacuate and demolish 146 houses at Kaalkuil location just outside Odendaalsrus in the Free State has left the community fuming. About 500 community members say they have been residing in the area for almost past 20 years. Kroonstad & Viljoenskroon face challenges of service delivery as well as the closure retrenchments of mine workers at the Diamond mines.
