The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) has launched an inquiry into the Alexandra shutdown in an attempt to find a lasting solution to the issues faced by residents in the area. To speak to us more about this inquiry we are joined by Buang Jones who is the spokesperson of the SAHRC.

Former employees at Ndalo Media have taken the company to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA). The employees are challenging Khanyi Dlhomo (owner)’s decision to liquidate the company. On Monday Dlhomo was no show at the hearing for the 2nd time. Yesterday during the violence in schools summit held by the department of education in Gauteng, Deputy Minister of Police Bongani Mkongi called on South Africans to begin the discussion on corporal punishment in schools. He said that since the banishment of corporal punishment, alternative forms of discipline are not bearing fruit.
