Today, we discuss Rural Security, asking – was it wrong for SA government to phase out voluntary "commando" units? In February 2003, then President Thabo Mbeki announced that commando units were to be disbanded – many White farmers objected to the move at the time arguing that commandos were an integral part of rural security, while government officials felt that the units were simply perpetrating rights abuses. Two teenagers who were arrested in Polokwane, Limpopo in connection with the death of a 12-year-old pupil at a special school in Seshego will not be appearing in court. According to the National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson in Limpopo, Mashudu Malabi the case was not enrolled at court as the two are minors and there was no evidence linking them to the crime.
