The lawyers of Duduzane Zuma, are bringing in an application to discharge him on a charge of culpable homicide at the Randburg Magistrate's Court, north of Johannesburg. Former President Jacob Zuma is attending the trial. Duduzane is facing one count of culpable homicide and another of reckless and negligent driving. The second count of culpable homicide was withdrawn yesterday. Zuma junior's vehicle - a Porche 911 turbo - crashed into a minibus taxi on the M1 highway in January 2014, resulting in the death of Phumzile Dube on the scene.

One in two Small Micro and Medium Enterprises (SMME)’s is likely to face tough economic outlook as a result of power cuts, fuel price increases and customers whose ability to spend is restrained. This is according to Sifiso Ndwandwe, the Managing Director of Catalyst for Growth. They say their data shows a correlation between increase in SMME failure and fuel price increases.

The Association of South African Quantity Surveyors on Friday added its voice to growing concerns over the so-called construction mafia, calling on the government to intervene to protect projects, investor confidence and the safety of professionals. The association’s Yunus Bayat warned that the continuing hijacking of billions of rands worth of projects in the sector would undermine confidence and destabilise the industry.

Bayat said construction projects worth more than R25 billion had been violently disrupted and halted by armed groups such as the notorious Delangokubona Business Forum.

The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal is calling for specialised courts to deal with political related cases in the province. Two ANC mayors are currently facing charges ranging from murder to conspiracy to commit murder in relation to the killing of ANC members and leaders. Speaking outside the Emadadeni magistrate court in northern KwaZulu-Natal, provincial spokesperson of the ANC - Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu - said they understand the court rolls are full.

World Water Day is an annual UN observance day that highlights the importance of freshwater. The day is used to advocate for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. Dr Kevin Winter from Future Water Institute at the University of Cape Town says when it comes our water the outlook is not good adding that unless there is significant action by 2030, there will be a projected 17% shortage in water supply.
