Aid agency Gift of the Giver which has just intervened in Makhanda last week over the water crisis say that they have have received calls from Riebeeck East, Amathole District (Queenstown) where over 50 000 people in 100 villages are without water for several months. They go on to say that the challenges in the Eastern Cape are multiplying.

Hundreds of EFF aligned students from the Durban University of Technology have marched to the Steve Biko campus in central Durban. They are demanding that the university's operations be shut down. The students are demanding that 3-thousand 500 students be allowed to register for the B-Tech qualification despite the fact that they owe student fees from last year. Students are demanding free, quality education for everyone in the country.
