Chaos broken out earlier today at the Stilfontein Hoërskool in the North West where angry parents removed their children from classes after allegations of racism. Black learners and parents are accusing the school of prioritising white learners.

The National Council of Provinces has passed the Traditional and Khoi-San Leadership Bill, which effectively makes provision for the recognition of the Khoi-San leadership. The Bill set the stage for the Khoi-San traditional leadership representative in all houses of traditional leaders.
But, members of Khoisan camping at the Union Buildings have lambasted the new Traditional and Khoisan Leadership Bill,saying it did not include them. It is aimed at giving recognition to Khoisan communities, leaders and structures, and also affected people living under a customary rule.

The Joburg Metro Police Department has arrested 4 eople for selling JMPD jobs. They sold these "jobs" to about 100 students who paid R15000 each.

The City of Tshwane says it will issue instructions to bring Pastor Shepherd Bushiri's church up to code. The instructions come at the back of recent stampede at the Enlightened Christian Gathering Church that claimed the lives of three women and injured many congregants.

The Reverend Vukile Mehana has been suspended from the Methodist Church pending an investigation into his patriarchial remarks. Women from the Methodist Church of Southern Africa marched in Bruma, east of Johannesburg, earlier today to voice their grievances against Mehana. This comes after a private telephonic conversation between Mehana and Raymond Sibanga was revealed on social media. The two men were sharing derogatory views on women. The conversation sparked public outrage, prompting Mehana to apologise for the remarks. One of the women the Reverend Dr Libuseng Lebaka-Ketshabile had this to say…

Another North West school, has been embroiled in allegation of racism, with learning disrupted this morning. Black parents and learners are protesting outside the Stilfontein Hoerskool, outside Klerksdorp in the North West, accusing management of racism. They allege that, while both black and white learners fared badly at the high school, only white learners have been progressed to the next grades. Police have been dispatched to the school. This is the second incident, after yesterday's protests at Schweize-Reneke Laer Skool, where learners were seated separately in a class-room along racial lines.

The Eastern Cape Co-operative Governance Department says it has welcomed the sentencing of a bogus traditional surgeon in the East London Magistrate’s Court. 34-year-old Lelethu Zilibele has been handed either an R8000 fine or two years imprisonment. This after he was found guilty of circumcising a 15-year-old boy, who was later rescued.
Zilibele was also sentenced to three years in jail, which is suspended for five years. Cogta MEC Fikile Xasa says he hopes that this case will encourage other families to lay charges against illegal traditional surgeons.
Over 30 deaths of initiates were reported by the end of December, last year.

United Nations chief, Antonio Guterres, has called on people to refrain from getting involved violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo after the country's electoral commission declared opposition leader, Felix Tshisekedi, the winner of the contentious December presidential election. The main opposition candidate, Martin Fayulu, came second. But, French authorities are calling for clarity, saying the Catholic Church of Congo's tally shows completely different results.
