The department of Health says it is working with the Border Management Authority to intensify health screening services at land ports of entry to mitigate against the cross-border transmission of cholera. The Department says it has noted reports about the recent cholera outbreaks in neighbouring countries like Zimbabwe. It has urged travellers returning from cholera-endemic areas to be vigilant for symptoms, co-operate with health officials, and be transparent.
Symptoms include diarrhoea, leg cramps, and vomiting.

The Labour Court has declared the Rea Vaya bus strike unlawful and unprotected. Business rescue practitioner Mahier Tayob has welcomed the court’s decision, arguing that the workers’ demands are unreasonable. Tayob took over the reins last month after the company was placed under business rescue. He joins us now to advise on the way forward post today’s court ruling.

A memorial service is being held at the Playhouse in Durban, for veteran playwright and musician Mbongeni Ngema, who died in a car crash on December 27. Ngema was a South African playwright, lyricist, composer, director, choreographer, and theatre producer, best known for co-writing the 1981 play Woza Albert! and co-writing the 1988 musical Sarafina! Today, Rea Vaya bus commuters were left stranded after PioTrans advised them to seek alternative transportation as services were disrupted due to labour-related issues.
