A software engineer from the Eastern Cape has created an app to help taxi commuters with that complicated fare change mathematics that has everyone avoiding the front seat. CaraCara App has been created to simplify money counting during the commute, to ease pressure on front seat passenger who end up with the responsibility of counting money and giving people their change. It has a built in calculator that takes three inputs to calculate change for people paying in groups. We’re now joined by CaraCara App Founder, Sonwabo Vena.

The latest statistics released by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment show 40% decrease in the number of Rhino poached in the Kruger National Park in 2022 compared to 2021. The Kruger National Park has previously been a hotspot for rhino poaching, however, poachers are now targeting KZN parks. The province lost 244 rhinos and 16 of those were in privately owned reserves. Minister Barbara Creecy says there has been collaboration between conservation authorities, the police, revenue authorities and international agencies in the fight against rhino poaching. The United Nations’ Secretary General, Antonio Guterres has condemned the attack on a South African National Defence Force aircraft in the DRC. A member of the crew died and another one was injured when an Oryx helicopter came under fire on the way to the airport in Goma. Guterres has called on the Congolese government to investigate the matter, as attacks on UN peacekeepers constitute a war crime under international law.
