The involvement of women in the struggle against apartheid is not accurately recorded as many women who took part in it were erased in history. Women found themselves not only fighting against racism, but sexism and patriarchy too. Strides have been made in the fight against sexist religious, cultural and social norms that disempower women. Different policies have been put in place to ensure their inclusion in spaces that previously excluded them. However, challenges still prevail.
