Yesterday, the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) granted Eskom a 9.61% electricity tariff hike for the 2022/2023 financial year. Eskom has initially requested a 20.5% tariff increase, saying that the request is due to costs of independent power producers and carbon taxes.
