We’re revisiting a story that we did last when the former US president announced that he would be launching his own social media app. Well. Trump’s new social media venture, Truth Social, launched yesterday in Apple’s App Store, potentially marking the former president’s return to social media after he was banned from several platforms last year. There are reports about backlog in registration.
So what does this mean when (1) When we speak about censorship and the complaints raised about how social media companies censor people and sometimes they ban them for a certain period, (2) when we look at the nature of the political elite who, when disagreed with or challenged, open their own social media platform or with some going as far as opening their own media houses or publications?
