Lauren shares couple of simple, nature-based activities that parents can try with their children. These are gentle, accessible ways to support connection, regulation, and emotional expression:
1. Nature Treasure Hunt (with a feelings twist)
Invite your child to find small natural items (like leaves, stones, sticks, or flowers). Once collected, sit together and explore:
- Which item feels calm?
- Which one feels strong or brave?
- Which one feels like today?
This creates a soft entry point into emotional awareness without pressure or “right” answers.
2. “Worry to Wonder” Nature Art
Ask your child to think of a worry and then go outside to gather natural materials. Together, create a shape, picture, or small “home” for that worry using what you find.
The idea is to gently transform something overwhelming into something contained and manageable.
These kinds of activities help children process their inner world through sensory, creative, and relational experiences.
