Bridget recently had a visitor who mentioned they thought it was great to see how happy our students are. This was further backed up by Bridget’s observation of a Food Tech lesson in which she saw the same - why could this be? It could be that the majority of our students have come from bad experiences within education in other settings and have found that Holmewood is much more open and understanding, with a like-minded cohort of students.

Young people spend the majority of their time in school. Many environments both in and out of school can be considered 'unsafe' by autistic individuals - due to different sensory needs. Today we hear about the chaos that is Dungeons and Dragons Club. 8 students having their own conversations whilst the dungeon master shouts over them, whilst others are dipping in and out of the game to play something different…or as we like to call it…Tuesday. Alongside this, we are discussing relationships and how we build them with our young people at The Holmewood School in order to help you bring this into your own practice.
