The Greatest Commandment is to love God with your whole self and to love your neighbor as yourself. So, who is my neighbor? The Summer of Love series explores what love is and how followers of Jesus are called to love all kinds of other people. Love is at the center of our faith and, as we see in this message, at the very center of who God is. So if we're called to love others, we've got to start at the source: God. Do you feel discouraged by some nagging habits or hang-ups in your life? Does the life in the living Christ we've been describing seem unattainable? Perhaps we need a different approach to Christian living. It starts with our identity in Christ and it grows by remaining in Christ. This is not a "try harder" approach, it's a "rest in who you already are in Jesus" approach. As we've explored in this series, life in the living Christ is not just something to believe, it's to be lived. Our faith is for our actual, flesh-and-blood, day-to-day life. Paul and the disciples in Acts lived freely -- without fear of death, sin, and evil. How on earth could we live this way? Because Jesus is alive, he's freed us and he's living in us. May we live freely and announce this freedom to others.

We were all made for connection to God and others though tragically, the story of humanity has been one of division. People instinctively set up barriers between "us" and "them" and the Church has not always been immune to these religious and relational boundaries. But, as we see in the book of Acts, the Spirit of God set to work to break down the barriers and he's still at work today. This message explores the ground-breaking initiative God took to overturn religion and overhaul relationships in his kingdom.
