The 2017 Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog-Eating Contest will take place in Coney Island from 11 am to 1 pm on Tuesday, July 4, 2017. The annual contest will be held at Nathan’s Famous flagship restaurant at the corner of Surf and Stillwell avenues in Brooklyn, NY.

Pre-show festivities will begin at 10:00 am with performances by a variety of musical and dance acts. The women’s competition began at 11:00 am, while the men’s competition will start at 12:30 pm. Some 30,000 fans are expected to attend.

Last year, Joey Chestnut of San Jose, CA, regained his championship title from arch rival Matt Stonie, also of San Jose, and set a new July 4th world-record by consuming 70 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. Chestnut’s all-time best is a world record 73 Nathan’s Famous hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes.

Ralph Natale, who was crucial to the return to power in the Philadelphia area of the Mafia, also became the first-ever La Cosa Nostra boss to turn federal witness. Natale gave unfettered access to award-winning writer Larry McShane and award-winning producer Dan Pearson to compile one of the most powerful never-before-told tales inside the workings of an organized crime “family” for the book LAST DON STANDING: The Secret life of Mob Boss Ralph Natale (Thomas Dunne Books, on sale March 21. 2017, $25.99).

 

Smart, savvy, and articulate, Natale came up through the ranks of the mob at first as the son of a numbers runner but quickly rose to the upper echelon of the crime syndicate. He began by serving as the brutal right-hand man for the boss Angelo Bruno as they launched their attempts to take over the Atlantic City casino unions. Joe, Transformers, Die Hard, The Dark Knight as well as being a recurring double on Supergirl, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Future Man, Leverage and many more. She has received the Action Icon Award for "Stuntwoman of the Year” and has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a black sash in Kung Fu and is trained in five other styles of martial arts, high falls, wipeouts, sky diving, motorcycles, stunt driving, fire, wirework and flying trapeze.
