Question: Is Penn State a Philly school? Yes, and No. Technically, they are within the greater Philadelphia region and are closely connected to the city. There is a deep symbiotic relationship between the college and the city, in that both the students and staff at the college and the Philly residents consider the school to be a Philly school. Moreover, locals are fed into the school and enjoy some discounts from living in Philly and attending the University. However, geographically, the school is located right at the border of Philadelphia and Abington, where the school is actually located. But relationships go beyond borders and boundaries, and such is the terms of their proximity.
We met up with some students from Penn State for the Podcast series and asked: “What’s life Like Living in Philadelphia” or your city and how do they compare? What is lifelike at Penn State? The 1st group of students we talked with were four young men; one resides in D.C. and the others are from Philly, but they all live on the campus. They were all concerned about the violence in Philly but said that they are in the nicer parts, but yet find it exciting and fun in Philly city despite the violence. Another young man in the group said that he was scared for his life and loved ones. The 2nd group of students were international students from China who revealed that they wanted to stay in the U.S. after they completed their studies at Penn State. We discussed with them that this may be possible with the new decision by the courts allowing international students to work in the country after they graduate. According to the article we obtained from Georgetown University LinkedIn page: “A U.S. appeals court has affirmed a federal program that allows international students to live and work in the U.S. after they graduate — a decision that Georgetown and 150 other universities advocated for in a 2021 amicus brief. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit upheld a 2016 update to the federal government’s Optional Practical Training (OPT) program, which allows international students to work in the U.S. for up to three years after they complete their degree,” (https://bit.ly/3VbIGcjvia Georgetown University LinkedIn Page, on 10/11, 2021, see the full article at Georgetown Applauds U.S. Appeals Court Decision To Allow International Students To Work in U.S. - Georgetown University).
We then transitioned to the next segment where we interviewed a young lady, Destiny, while at Chick-Fi-La Northeast Philadelphia, who stated that she wanted to move out of Philly because it is “unsafe”. When asked, where would you move to? She replied, “to Miami”. We then discussed whether Miami is actually the best place for certain demographics and the standard of living there and minimum wage. After the discussion, she stated that it is something that she needs to explore further but wants to go to Penn State University and is exploring that possibility. After our interview with Destiny the other college students, it leads us to ask, “What About Students from Non HBCU’s? Such as Penn State, Georgetown & Penn? We raise that question & discuss this issue in segment 4 of the episode due to yet another Stephen A Smith’s backed, ESPN/Firsttake program that supports HBCU students. There has been a myriad of programs and awareness surrounding HBCU’s but there are black and brown students who are doing well at non HBCU’s who need support and help but there has been little to none.
Thank you!

What can Judges do to help prevent recidivism and how can we make our society better? The Neoliberal Round Podcast met up with the Hon. Judge Stephanie M. Sawyer who was a speaker at the Day of Community Enlightenment in Germantown Philadelphia. We interviewed some of the attendees, local business talent promoting their craft. Ms. Jackson, author of “I’m not hypocrite I’m human,” talked about the event at the beginning and provided insights into the aim of the program.
Who is Hon. Juliet M. Sawyer? Hon. Stephanie Sawyer
Although Stephanie M. Sawyer was born in Queens, New York, her home city is the City of Philadelphia where she was raised and has continuously lived since, she was a very little girl. She is a product of the Philadelphia public school system attending J.R. Masterman, Philadelphia High School for Girls, and she went on to earn her undergraduate and law degrees from Temple University. Judge Sawyer is a single parent of two children who was raised by a single parent where she learned her commitment to the community and her understanding that hard work is the key to success.
Judge Sawyer is currently a Municipal Court Judge in Philadelphia County, having her judicial nomination confirmed by the state senate on June 30, 2014, she was then sworn in on July 16, 2014. Prior to this appointment, Judge Sawyer was the sole practitioner of her own Center City based law office which she maintained for almost two decades.
What was interesting was the passion with which she shared about how judges were part of the problem and how they can be part of the solution in relation to incarcerations, convictions and the mitigating recidivism. She talked about her efforts as a Judge and member of society and community to raise awareness and provide opportunities to vulnerable populations and those re-entering society to develop certain literacy skills, such as business and critical thinking. In fact, she revealed that she will be launching a foundation to this end in the beginning of November 2022, (Th Neoliberal Round Podcast will be present at the event.)

The Neoliberal corporation, "Serving The World Today, To Solve Tomorrow's Challenges," as we "make popular, what was the monopoly!"
This is a Bonus video podcast to Part 4 of What's Life Like Living in Philadelphia (and is available in video on Spotify and audio on all podcast streams and the Alexa App). We are doing a Podcast series on "What's It Like Living In Philadelphia". On the first part of the series, we got an interview with B-Dot a young man who frequents the Yahay's Conveinent Store in Germantown Philadelphia at the corner of Chelten and Chew. That was on September 29, 2022 that we conducted the interview inside the store. We attached the audio interview with him at the beginning of this bonus video podcast. Yesterday, October 11th, 2022, my producer and I were stopped at the store where we did the interview with him and noticed a placard on the store with pictures and people going up to write on the placard. I had just heard that a young man was shot and killed in the store, so I got out the car and went up to the store-wall with the placard and as I got closer I realized it was the same young man we interviewed just days ago who commented that Philly was dangerous but that he loved it in Philly and that to be safe we gotta stay to ourselves, know our company and stay around good people. It was quite shocking! while there we met two loved of his closest friends, a mother and daughter whose son/sibling was B-Dot's best friend. We did a video interview with these close family friend, which is available on the Spotify platform, and via our Youtube channel: renaldovids and our social media feeds at Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Tiktok (at #renaldomckenzie or #renaldocmckenzie). The audio is available on all other podcast streams such as Apple Podcast, Amazon Music, Stitcher, Radio Public, Google Podcast, Podvine, the Alexa App, renaldocmckenzie.com and theneoliberal.com. Question 1: What is the relationship between time management and academic success?
Question 2: What has been the nature of neoliberal globalization in a developed society such as the US or UK versus the developing such as Jamaica, Ghana etc. & what accounts for the contrast of experiences of poverty/inequality?
Segment 1: What is the relationship between time management and Academic Success?
It is said that life is short and time's limited. So, time is the most valuable and priceless thing in our lives, as it is the space within which we operate and conduct the entirety of our lives. This involves a plethora and myriad of stimuli coming at us in order to realize the zenith of our life. As such, time management becomes paramount as it is an excellent tool and skill for directing and guiding one’s life’s activities; so as, to minimize time wasting and the distractions that pose threats to the realization of one’s academic goals; because life is short and time is limited. Yet, most of us take time management for granted. In fact, research shows that students who utilized effective time management skills, usually take it with them throughout their academic and professional life and realize greater success and less burn out and distractions (Source). Hence, Time Management is a vital skill and activity within learning strategy that may help to realize successful completion of one’s academic goals.
Segments 2 and 3: Sharing the Journey Part 2:
The Masters project paper examined whether or not Jamaica’s inequality trends from 1985 – 2007 was a consequence of the structural adjustment policies stipulated by the neo-liberal technocrats of the ‘Washington Consensus’ on Jamaica. We began this examination by questioning the premise on which this variable lies: Neo-Liberalism creates inequality and poverty. Having established that “neoliberalism” creates inequality and poverty, we then asked ourselves, why and how the Jamaican government adopted and implemented structural adjustment policies by tracing the evolution of structural adjustment policies. Thirdly, we examined the results/implications of structural adjustment on Jamaica by presenting and analyzing Jamaica’s income inequality and poverty trends. Finally, we assess whether or not these trends correlate with our assertions. Unlike the Graduate programs at Penn that I completed previously, the PHD in Communication at the Annenberg will explore post-industrial experience of neoliberal globalization on the working class and their response. Essentially, we want to know what has been the nature of neoliberal globalization in a developed society such as the United States. How different or similar are the experiences of poverty and inequality in Jamaica and the Caribbean vis-a-viz the United States under neoliberal globalization? And what accounts for these differences? What has been the response or the mitigating factor against neoliberal globalization, and if so, how effective is it? The answer may lie in my anecdotal analysis that requires further investigation:
The decentralization of social media is the greatest victory for peoples in society, especially those that are marginalized and most vulnerable. The people of the global south, black and brown peoples have all suffered under Neoliberal Globalization and strategies of power that poses problems for human progress and people everywhere. Digital technology and the decentralization creates opportunities and greater competition and limits access so that there is this leveling of the playing field. Yet there is this drive to regulate information as the status quo uses countervailing tactics to re-monopolize information so that communication is no longer to make monopoly what was the monopoly.
This may lead us to ask, what is the role of the neoliberal state? See Part 3.
It is said that East Falls is the better places to live in Philly? That's according to one of the many respondents at the East Falls Farmer's Market in Philly where we continued our series looking at Living in Philadelphia, where we ask city residents what's it like living in Philly? We interviewed many of the vendors and patrons at the event and even got a quick interview from David Dettman, the Manager of the East Falls Farmers' Market. This episode is Part 2 of the series and we also interviewed an operator of a Mexican restaurant in West Mt. Airy/Germantown Philadelphia called Mi Puebla and the stopped at the Men Who Care of Germantown Food Distribution to get a quick word from a patron and to observe the exchanges.
