The Nerd Stash Network

Hello and welcome to the Longbox Hunters, a podcast hosted by two longtime friends who adore comics and talking into microphones.

Each issue (episode) will cover what our crew has been reading recently before moving on to whatever that edition’s topic may be, with plenty of room for discussion, discourse, and even the occasional special guest to keep things fresh.

From story arc analysis to character history deep dives and debates over widely contested comic book plot points and hot topics, the Longbox Hunters team covers everything in between all while bringing their trademark wit and enthusiasm that listeners of Nerds Talk Movies know and love!

On today's issue, Tristan and Drew are talking about Invincible (Volume 1). Here's a synopsis for that run, courtesy of Wikipedia:

"Invincible is an American comic book series written by Robert Kirkman, illustrated by Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, and published by Image Comics. Set in the Image Universe, Invincible follows the coming of age of superhero Mark Grayson / Invincible, a Viltrumite and first-born son of Omni-Man, the most powerful superhero on Earth. "

On today's issue, Tristan and Drew are talking about Superman: Birthright. Here's a synopsis for that run, courtesy of Wikipedia:

"Superman: Birthright is a twelve-issue comic book limited series published by DC Comics in 2003 and 2004, written by Mark Waid and drawn by Leinil Francis Yu and Gerry Alanguilan.

Originally, the series was intended to be a non-canon version of Superman, showcasing his origin and updating him for the 21st century. Soon after, it was decided to adopt the series as canon, and thus it replaced John Byrne's The Man of Steel series as Superman's canonical origin story.

The project was given to Mark Waid with the request to create an origin story for Superman set in the 21st century, a series that new readers can understand without any previous knowledge of the character's mythos. This was something Waid had wanted to do since seeing Superman: The Movie for the first time."
