The Nerfherder Council

Weesa back! Our summer vacation is over, and we’ve got a few stories to tell. We also did some pondering during our time off. The big question we posited: what if Rogue One was a trilogy? As the best-received film of the Disney era, could more movies in this story have altered the fandom’s take on their stewardship thus far?

Hey Herders! Leading up to Episode IX, we know almost *nothing* about the movie – except that it has a GIANT job ahead of it. We bust out our speculation hats (yes, those are totally real things and not a hacky awkward bit of literary phrasing) and try to figure out where this film is headed. It’s not just the end of the sequel trilogy, but the entire Skywalker saga! How can one film possibly handle all of that!? Some people think The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi have done too much harm to the saga for Episode IX to redeem it.

Spoiler alert: those people are dumb and wrong! Also, there are spoilers in this episode. So be alert. For spoilers.

This week continues our discussion with Kenn Bell, documentarian and Star Wars superfan, about all things Star Wars! This time around, we cover the Disney era of storytelling and take a look at how this modern era compares to the originals. Does Rey pander to social pressure? Do Jyn, Cassian, and the “Solo” crew stack up to the original foursome of Han, Leia, Luke, and Chewbacca? We discuss this and much more!

Since you’re all smart, cultured folks, we know you’ll want to check out Kenn’s rescue dog documentary: Second Chance Dogs. Check it out on YouTube in its entirety!

Be sure to follow Kenn Bell on Twitter (@kennbell) for the latest on his upcoming film, Hero Dogs of 9/11!
