Star Wars Beyond the Films

The Never-Ending Rebellion – SWBTF #73

Listen Later

Luke Skywalker’s childhood friend Janek “Tank” Sunber is rebelling! Or is he? With Leia shot and dying and Darth Vader closing in, the Rebel fleet is left reeling and scattered, all on the next Star Wars Beyond the Films. YOUR Star Wars discussion podcast! YOUR ticket to the EU!

This week true believers, Beyonders, Fanboys, Fangirls, respected aliens around the galaxy, The Defender of the EU: Champion of the Multiverse; Mark Hurliman, and your EU Guru: The Count of Continuity; Nathan P. Butler, sit down to ponder and discuss Star Wars: Rebellion, Vol 1 entitled, My Brother, My Enemy. So strap in and tighten your crash webbing Fandom, Star Wars Beyond the Films is setting off on another rapid-fire trip into the galaxy far, far away!

Jumping right in Mark ponders the differences between reading your story arcs as Singles, vs TPMs, vs Omnibi, and the joys and burdens of each format.

Nathan locks us in on the time placement of the issue, and artists, and script writers, and so forth, and how the story ties into the EU overall.

They also ponder how the art stands up, and why issue #3 seems so very different than the rest. There are many beautiful 2-page spreads through out the arc.  Both hosts have some favorites.

Cosplayers now have a Rebel Armor worth it’s salt. And a Dark Horse 2-pack based off of issue #3.

The 3rd issue also marked the change in art. Note the differences in style from the panel and cover below/

VS.

And both host’s favorite cover below. It paints a very gruesome image for the Rebellion.Sith has hit the fan as Vader springs his trap. Will the Rebellion get away? Or are they doomed?

One of Mark’s favorite images below shows Rebel One badly damaged and blindly jumping into hyperspace to escape from the Empire’s clutches.

Who does Vader find in the escape pod amid all the wreckage from the battle? Have we seen the last of Tank? (comic law #6: No Body; No Death) Give a listen to find out more.

So once again, your dynamic duo cover entirely too much Rebel action in their ONE hour, so they said to the 9 hells with it and threw out that rule, but don’t worry, give it a go; you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you might even get a little education on the EU while you’re at it. But no matter how you slice it and dice it, you’ll be having another adventure Beyond the Films. So sit back, hang on, enjoy the show, and may the Force be with you!
