In this episode of The New Ashla Podcast, Justin V. Gates and Michael Perry explore how false beliefs shape identity, limit potential, and quietly control the way we see ourselves, our relationships, our worth, and what we believe is possible.
Some of the limits we live under were never truly ours. Someone said something. Something happened. We failed once. We were rejected, judged, compared, shamed, criticized, or told who we were before we understood who we could become. Over time, the suggestion became belief. The belief became identity. The identity became a prison.
Drawing from the teachings of Ashla, Justin and Michael discuss what it means to “wake up from the lie” and de-hypnotize yourself from limiting beliefs that were planted through pain, conditioning, comparison, trauma, rejection, failure, family systems, culture, religion, or repeated suggestion.
This conversation explores how false beliefs become a trance. A lie does not have to be true to shape your life. It only has to be believed deeply enough. Once accepted, the belief becomes a lens through which life is interpreted. A person may begin acting in ways that confirm the belief, not because the belief is true, but because the belief is quietly guiding perception, behavior, confidence, and self-image.
Through Ashla, this becomes the sacred work of recognition. Before you can break free of negative or improper influences, you must first recognize them. The Light of awareness reveals the lie so the greater self can stop bowing to it.
Justin and Michael also explore how false beliefs block expression. Many people do not lack ability. They are living under a self-image that refuses permission. A person may have intelligence, creativity, leadership, strength, love, or deep capacity within them, but the old belief says, “That is not for you.” Over time, “I can’t” becomes more than a thought. It becomes an inner command.
The episode also examines how comparison creates false standards. Modern life constantly invites us to compare our real path to someone else’s curated image. Highlight reels, filtered bodies, success clips, spiritual performance, and artificial standards can make people feel behind, broken, inadequate, or unworthy. But someone else’s path is not the measure of your soul.
The deeper work is not only recognizing the lie, but replacing it with lived truth. Removing a false belief is not enough. A truer belief must be cultivated, repeated, and embodied through action. Affirmations matter, but the deeper mind also needs evidence. One honest sentence, one wise decision, one completed task, one act of courage, one boundary, one moment of self-respect can begin to teach the inner world that the old story is not the only story.
This episode is for anyone who has struggled with limiting beliefs, low self-worth, self-doubt, comparison, fear of failure, imposter syndrome, negative self-image, inherited conditioning, or the feeling that they are living beneath their true capacity.
