I’m excited to share this week’s podcast episode with you—it’s one I believe can make a real difference in your life.
We’re talking about something that most of us naturally avoid: discomfort. But here’s the thing—your ability to be comfortable being uncomfortable is the key to unlocking everything you want.
In this episode, I share:
Why our brains are wired to flee discomfort (and how to override that instinct).
How to reframe fear as a teacher instead of a threat.
A simple, powerful strategy to move through messy conversations, conflict, and uncertainty with grace.
I even tell the story of the very first time I stood up in front of hundreds of people, nerves rattling, and how naming my discomfort turned the entire experience around.
If you’ve ever struggled with giving up on goals, avoiding hard conversations, or feeling stuck in uncertainty, this episode is for you. I truly believe mastering this one skill can change the game in every area of your life.
As always, I’d love to hear what resonates for you. What opens up for you as you explore your relationship with discomfort? Hit reply and let me know—I read every message.

It’s Aquarius season again here in The New Beyond and for me, that means I’ve completed another trip around the sun. As a double Aquarian, (sun & rising signs), I am about to celebrate my 83rd birthday. And I am also celebrating the 3rd anniversary of this podcast.
So, this week’s episode is a bit self-indulgent, if you will allow, as I reflect on being in my 80’s as an Aquarian being, which is anything but ordinary, especially now, in 2025, with the overwhelming amount of change, disruption and chaos we are currently experiencing all over the world.
We are living in extraordinary times, and I think it takes great courage to be a human being on the planet right now. As an 83 year-old, I am so far from the typical profile of someone my age. And yet, I know that it is just a number. What really matters is how we make the years count while we’re here. I’ll share about that in this episode.
In this episode, I drop a bit of astrology on you. I am not an astrologer, but Aquarius is the sign of astrology, so I have a keen interest.
I discuss some background on what is happening now astrologically, that impacts every one of us, not just Aquarians. We are entering a 20-year cycle of gigantic upheaval, leading to a major shift in paradigms.
We are now firmly into the Aquarian Age, which I equate to The New Beyond. When I received the name of this podcast three years ago, I did not consciously connect the dots between these two. But it’s now clear to me, this is what it is. The New Beyond IS the Age of Aquarius and it is fitting and proper that this podcast represents that consciousness.
If you’ll further indulge me, at the end of this week’s episode, I share a piece of my writing about why I came to the planet. I hope you can hear yourself in there and find something in it that resonates for you.
Thank you for coming along on this journey with me for the past three years. I ask for one more indulgence: the BEST birthday gift you could give me…….. please leave a review on Apple if you find this podcast worth listening to. It makes a difference, it really does!

You might be wondering: what does yoga have to do with leadership? As it turns out, everything.
In this episode of The New Beyond, I had the privilege of reconnecting with Radha Metro-Midkiff, Executive Director of the Integral Yoga Institute of New York. Radha’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary—from being raised in a yogic community to working on Wall Street, and eventually finding her way back to her roots to lead one of the most impactful yoga organizations in the country.
In our conversation, Radha shared her story of navigating profound life transitions, including how she used yoga principles to process the trauma of 9/11 and later embraced leadership training to deepen her understanding of resilience, authenticity, and service.
Here are a few nuggets of wisdom you’ll take away from this episode:
The power of merging ancient yogic teachings with modern leadership practices.
Why navigating paradoxes is an essential skill for thriving in today’s world.
How to use yoga not just as a physical practice but as a framework for leading yourself and others.
Radha’s insights will challenge you to think about leadership in a new light and inspire you to integrate the principles of mindfulness, presence, and compassion into your daily life.

In this episode of The New Beyond, we explore the powerful concept of crossing existential and spiritual thresholds—the kind that change everything. We’re talking about the shift from suffering to freedom, from resistance to surrender, and from fear to trust.
The Buddha taught that life is suffering, not as a sentence to despair, but as a truth about being human. And yet, within that truth lies an opportunity—the path to freedom. But how do we release our grip on suffering? How do we move from resistance to acceptance? And what happens when we finally drop the rope?
Through deep reflections, personal insights, and a profound dream about ancestral healing, I'll take us on a journey to the other side of the line—the place where we reclaim our power, step into flow, and break free from the chains of resistance.
What You’ll Learn in This Episode:
✅ The true meaning of suffering and why resisting it only deepens our pain
✅ How resistance feeds struggle—and how acceptance creates space for healing
✅ Why what we resist, persists—and how to release the grip of suffering
✅ The shift from external validation to inner knowing
✅ What it means to cross a spiritual threshold and how it impacts your soul’s journey
✅ A powerful story of lineage healing and how crossing your line affects future generations
Key Quotes:💡 “The moment we stop fighting reality, we create space for healing.”💡 “Resistance creates stagnation. Acceptance creates flow.”💡 “On the other side of the line is freedom.”
Reflection Questions:👉 What is the line you are being called to cross right now?👉 Where in your life are you resisting, and how is it keeping you stuck?👉 What would happen if you surrendered and let go of the fight?

This week on The New Beyond, I had the extraordinary honor of speaking with Shannon Willis, a ritualist and ancestral healer whose work on Soft Rebellion stopped me in my tracks.
She speaks of a revolution that is fluid, organic, and unstoppable. One that moves not through confrontation, but through connection. One that spreads beneath the surface, like the mycelium that erodes empires from below.
In this episode, we explore:
Why movements without leaders cannot be beheaded
The mycelial nature of Soft Rebellion—how it thrives unseen
The three principles that shift fear into transformation: Curiosity, Compassion, and Courage
Why joy is one of the greatest acts of defiance
How we reclaim our power by minding our purse—divesting from the extractive systems that harm us
This conversation is a game-changer. It’s for the healers, artists, dreamers, and quiet revolutionaries who feel weary of fighting but refuse to give up. It’s for those who know, deep down, that there is another way.
