The purpose of the Old Covenant was to show us that it is impossible for man to be righteous and to keep God’s laws. When God gave us the New Covenant, it wasn’t that He changed, but He changed the way He relates to us - Jesus made a way for us to live in His righteousness. We can now turn from laws written on stone and embrace His Spirit, who is alive in us and writes God’s laws on our hearts.
