The words we say to ourselves impact us in a big way.
On the freedom journey, there can be some intense moments. Maybe you've made a decision, and you're committed to being done with porn, to move on to something better and brighter. But though you've made the commitment, you still feel that familiar temptation, that craving. And it is still intense.
Just because you've made a decision to pursue freedom and be done with porn, this doesn't magically make the urge stop appearing. You're now having to face the crux and the front line of your journey: how to experience that intense urge, AND not give in to it. And not just one time, but many times.
In addition to having a clear, effective, actionable plan in place, something else greatly impacts those intense moments of temptation: What you're thinking.
How you THINK about that intense feeling, and what you're believing in that moment, can either aid you and give you that extra boost you need, or it can hamstring you, and make the experience of that urge even more difficult than it already is.
In the next two episodes of this podcast, I'm going to share two thoughts/beliefs that I regularly remind myself about when I'm feeling tempted to watch porn. And it helps me tremendously to get through that feeling, to go through it and to process it.
The first thought or belief that we're going to dive into in this episode is that maybe, just maybe, it makes sense that you feel tempted. Maybe, it makes sense that you feel intense cravings to go back to porn. We're going to explore this thought together, and I'm confident that it will help you the next time you feel that strong urge!
