Sean McComb was the Maryland Teacher of the Year and would later become the National Teacher of the Year in 2014.

June Scobee Rogers watched in horror on the morning of January 28, 1986, as her husband and his six crew members faced catastrophic results immediately after lift-off on the Space Shuttle Challenger.  Even more disturbing, aboard the shuttle was the first teacher in space, Christa McAuliffe, and tens of thousands of children had been watching the launch in schools across the country and around world.
