Deida Massey — Beauty Boss. Storyteller. Changemaker.
Deida K. Massey doesn’t just create unforgettable looks—she builds confidence, careers, and community. The Chicago native traded a paralegal career advocating for children for a bold move to Los Angeles in 2002, launching a path that would take her from beauty counters to major film and television sets
The Glow-Up: From Chicago to the Big Screen
With talent, hustle, and a sharp eye for detail, Massey became a go-to artist across entertainment and fashion:
• Fashion and culture: Music videos, editorials, commercials, runway shows, and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
•
• Film: Credits on Divergent, Widows, Candyman, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
•
• Television: Key Makeup Artist on NBC’s Chicago Fire for Seasons 7–8, following years as an additional regular.
•
• Celebrity artistry: A client list featuring Keke Palmer, Tichina Arnold, Dr. Maya Angelou, Kelly Rowland, Common, Ludacris, Michael Jordan, and artists at Oprah Winfrey’s 2005 Legends Ball Weekend IMDb.
Beauty With a Bigger Purpose
In 2004, Massey founded Reel Beauty, Inc., a nonprofit helping urban girls strengthen self-worth, confidence, and real-world skills through a 14-week Social S.T.E.A.M.® curriculum. The organization has mentored more than 2,000 girls in Chicago, and its work has traveled globally—including a Swahili adaptation at the Uzima Center in Mwanza, Tanzania.
She also channels that mission through Bixa Beauty, a social enterprise connecting beauty, entrepreneurship, and her expanding work in Africa.
More Than Makeup
Her beauty memoir, Face Values – The Foundation of Beauty, turns the spotlight inward, blending personal stories with reflections on confidence, identity, and self-worth.
Still Creating. Still Giving Back. Today, Massey continues to bring her artistry to film and television while growing ventures rooted in purpose. Whether she’s behind the camera or in the community, her signature remains the same: help people see—and own—their power.
The vibe: Deida Massey is a creative force who turned brushes, bold choices, and a heart for service into a career—and a movement.
