The government of Venezuela announced that it will deliver the first 200 homes next week to those affected by the earthquakes. 

Acting President Delcy Rodríguez has also begun direct diplomatic efforts to request the release of Venezuela's gold in order to establish a fund dedicated exclusively to reconstruction.

Colombia

In Colombia, President Gustavo Petro ordered that no military base be used for the swearing-in ceremony of far-right politician Abelardo de la Espriella on August 7. 

Petro emphasized that the transfer of power is governed by the laws of the Republic and the Constitution, which establish that the President is sworn in before Congress in a full session. 

Iran - Middle East

And Iran has intensified its attacks against several Gulf states following the U.S. bombings, which included Qatar. 

Meanwhile, Iran has once again announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, causing oil prices to surge.
