SCO Summit

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit concludes today. It brought together its 10 member states in Kyrgyzstan, including China, Russia, India and Iran, countries with enormous populations and economic weight.

The meeting, which began on Monday in Bishkek, is one of the main forums for political, economic and security cooperation in Eurasia and also at the global level. 

It also provided an opportunity for multiple bilateral meetings, including Putin's meetings with Xi Jinping, Modi, Erdogan and Iranian leader Massoud Beheshtian.

Mexico

In Mexico, this Tuesday, President Claudia Sheinbaum is expected to present her second State of the Union report, in which she will review her administration performance and progress in areas of economy, employment, security, justice, health and education.

Sheinbaum arrives at the occasion with a high approval ratings of 64% for her administration in August, according to a poll by the newspaper El Financiero. 

Nepal

And in Nepal, the government has updated the official figures following the devastating flood that swept through the north of the country along the border with China last Wednesday. 

The death toll has surpassed 1,000, while the number of missing people also continues to rise, and has now exceeded 4,000.

Middle East

Iran launched missiles and drones at U.S. bases in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates in response to the U.S. attack on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz, which, according to Tehran, left military personnel and civilians dead and injured.

The U.S. attack was the first in a month, and Washington says it bombed two missile launchers belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard on Larak Island, claiming they were preparing to launch naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz.

Brazil

In Brazil, the National Congress will have a week of intense sessions during which it is expected to address priority issues agreed upon by President Lula and the leaders of the Chambers of Deputies and the Senate. 

On Wednesday, lawmakers are expected to vote on ending the six-day-on-one-day-off-work schedule and to gradually reduce the week's work from 44 to 40 hours without a reduction in pay while establishing two-day pay days off per week. 

Central America

And as the El Niño phenomenon arrives, El Salvador, Honduras and Panama have joined the declaration of a state of emergency, as the phenomenon is expected to intensify in the coming months.

El Salvador has activated a red alert throughout its territory, while Honduras has expanded its state of contingency, and Panama has declared an environmental emergency.

Nepal - China - Tibet

Near the northern border of Nepal and China's Tibet region, a sudden and devastating torrent of water, ice and rocks resembling a tsunami swept through and buried entire nearby villages. 

So far, hundreds of deaths and a large number of missing people have been reported as rescue operations continue, and scientists attribute the disaster to the partial collapse of a glacier.

United Nations - Gaza

The United Nations is warning for a new humanitarian crisis in Gaza and calling for adequate shelters ahead of the arrival of winter, saying that tents provide no protection from the cold and describing the situation as unacceptable. 

More than 10 months after the ceasefire during which Israel has killed more than 1,200 Palestinians in the Strip, continuing what has been described as a genocide, the approaching winter raises a very serious risk that Gazans could once again die from cold and hypothermia, as happened last winter, particularly among children and newborn babies. 

Paraguay - national strike

In Paraguay, the national strike by public sector doctors is scheduled to hold its final day of protest on Friday.

The strike aims to pressure the government of the far-right pro-U.S. President Santiago Peña to grant salary increases and make structural improvements to the public healthcare system.

Bolivia

In Bolivia, prosecutors are investigating far-right political strategist Fernando Cerimedo for allegedly protecting drug trafficking operations. 

Cerimedo, a former digital strategy advisor to Milley, Paz, Bolsonaro, cast as Fura de la Esprilla, another far-right Latin American president, is accused of having provided his services and his army of trolls and bots to discredit the left and progressive leaders and help win elections, some of which have been challenged over alleged fraud.

Cerimedo is currently being held in pre-trial detention over an alleged attempted femicide. He is also accused of having protected irregular flights by small aircrafts carrying drugs. 

Authorities could additionally bring money laundering charges against him, involving millions of dollars from unknown sources.

Spain - Ceuta

Analysts affirm that the crisis in the Spanish autonomous city of Ceuta may have been used to increase pressure from the United States, Israel and Morocco on the government of socialist Prime Minister Pedro Ssnchez and to discredit his administration. 

Sanchez's government has been marked by Spain's closer ties with Algeria, one of Spain's main energy suppliers. Algeria is seen as an uncomfortable factor in the geopolitical interests of the US, Israel and its neighboring country, Morocco.

Colombia - climate change

And as a consequence of the climate crisis, devastating wildfires have consumed more than 20,000 hectares in Colombia. Authorities have warned that a significant portion of the fires may have been deliberately set.

Venezuela - administration balance

Venezuela's Acting president, Delcy Rodriguez, presented a balance of her administration two months after the twin earthquakes, detailing progress in providing social assistance to those affected, clearing debris and delivering housing. 

On the economic front, Delcy Rodriguez highlighted that oil production surpassed 1.2 million barrels per day, its highest level since 2019, and she also announced that the economy has recorded 32 consecutive quarters of sustained growth and that the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, ECLAC, projects Venezuela's economy will grow by 6.5% by the end of 2026, the highest rate in the region. 

Haiti - violence

In Haiti, at least 47 people were killed and 22 wounded in a gang attack in Kenscoff area, east of Port-au-Prince, the capital. 

The attack, which appears to have been primarily driven by the territorial expansion of the Viv Ansanm gang coalition, included the burning of homes and vehicles, as well as a raid on a church where displaced people had sought refuge. 

China - Greece - climate change

And as a consequence of the climate crisis, flooding in southern China forced more than 54,000 people to evacuate, while in southwestern France, a powerful storm with lightning and strong winds left 7,000 homes without electricity, and Greece is experiencing an intense heat wave, with temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, placing more than 12 regions under the highest alert due to the risk of wildfires.

Bolivia

At this hour, Fernando Serimedo remains detained in Bolivia. A former advisor to Milei and a member of President Rodrigo Paz's inner circle, Serimedo has emerged as a key figure in a regional machine of disinformation and electoral manipulation operated by Latin America's far right in coordination with the international right. He operated in Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile, Honduras, and Mexico, with additional connections to Donald Trump's circle through his partner, Brad Parscale, Founder of the outlet La Derecha Diario, Serimedo deployed armies of hundreds of thousands of trolls and AI powered bots to attack and discredit the left, representing an exportable model of digital militias seeking to undermine democracies and progressive governments. At this hour, he's under arrest in Santa Cruz under charges of attempted murder of his former partner who was shot and is currently hospitalized in the city. She released recordings of Serimedo, in which he allegedly exposed corruption within the Milei government and says, quote, the Milei government is a pressure cooker full of corruption, and Karina Milei is at the head of it all. In addition, Serimedo was at the helm of a secret Bolivian elite police unit that was planning in the coming days to kidnap former president, Evo Morales, and imprison him. The public debt of The United States has climbed to a historic record of 40,000,000,000,000, an increase of 33% over the past five years. The situation directly affects the American population as a cause of living and inflation continue to rise, potentially influencing voter behavior in the upcoming midterm elections just over two months away.

Latin America

And as a consequence of climate crisis, the El Niño phenomenon is strengthening in The Pacific, with impacts already visible across Latin America. Central America is suffering from drought, while the Panama Canal has announced transit restrictions due to a shortage of rainfall. Meanwhile, Perú is dealing with the aftermath of heavy rains that have caused flooding, while in Chile, a recent storm triggered mudslides, landslides, and damage in the northern part of the country.

Iran

Iran warns that what he described as Trump's economic terrorism will bring more defeats for The United States. Teheran responded harshly to Trump's announcement of what he described as the most devastating economic operation and d day, as he put it, an unprecedented isolation campaign against Iran for refusing to accept the negotiating terms that Washington seeks to impose on it to end the war. Trump also threatened the rest of the world with sanctions if they trade with the Persian nation.

Argentina

The Milei government is a pressure cooker loaded with corruption, and Karina Milei is at the head of it, Argentine newspaper, página doce reports. The newspaper has published reportings containing confessions by Millet's former advisor, Fernando Serimedo, made to his ex partner, Nadia Beyer, a lawyer by profession who is recovering in a hospital in Santa Cruz after being shot. Beyer has held Serimedo responsible for the attack. Serimedo, who is now detained in Bolivia, also served as an adviser to Bolivian president Rodrigo Paz, and has been accused of leading a secret clandestine police unit that was planning to capture Evo Morales in the tropic of Cochabamba. 

And in Buenos Aires, the CGT, together with two other labor confederations, will march this Thursday to the Ministry of Economy to protest rising household debt and record levels of delinquency in Argentina.

Bolivia

In Bolivia, it was revealed that a secret command led by a former adviser to Milei and current adviser to president Rodrigo Paz, was planning to capture Evo Morales in the tropical tropical region of Cochabamba. Evo Morales asked the prosecutor's office for a transparent investigation into Fernando Cenimedo, who is accused of leading an elite police group outside the formal structures. 

Chile

In Chile, president Caste declared a constitutional state of emergency due to the catastrophic damage caused by an unprecedented heavy rains in the northern part of the country.

Indonesia

And in Indonesia, the death toll has already surpassed seventy, with more than two hundred people injured after the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that hit the island of Flores on Saturday.

Colombia

Seven days after the earthquake in Colombia, the department of Risaralda in the central part of the country and its capital, Pereira, continue to face a critical situation. Authorities report that 40% of Pereira suffered serious infrastructure damage, particularly to buildings and homes. And the far right pro US president, de La Hayes Prieja, while visiting visiting Buenaventura amid the tragedy, sparked widespread outrage and criticism when, as a form of aid, he threw soccer balls bearing his personal logo from his armored vehicle to children. The incident adds to another controversy after he initially denied entry to Mexican rescue workers, but immediately allowed rescuers from Israel and The United States to enter, prompting accusations that humanitarian aid was being politicized.

Honduras

In Honduras, this Tuesday, a court is resuming the initial hearing against former Honduran president Juan Orlando Hernández over alleged fraud and money laundering. President Trump announced a pardon for Hernández just days before the recent November presidential election in Honduras, while Hernández was serving a forty five year sentence in The United States for drug trafficking. The pardon was denounced as a deliberate move by Trump of interference to help secure the victory of his preferred far right candidate, Nasli Asfura, who had maintained a close relationship with Hernández. 

Latin America

And the climate phenomenon known as super El Niño continues to keep Latin America on alert with estimates, putting the likelihood of reaching the very strong category at more than ninety five percent.

Venezuela

The United Nations Development Program program projects 6.5% GDP growth, that is gross domestic product for Venezuela by the end of twenty twenty six. And Venezuela's acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, reported that the Venezuelan economy has achieved 21 consecutive quarters of growth. She called for maintaining national productive unity among all sectors of the country and promoting an export oriented economy. 

Brazil

Electoral campaigns have begun in Brazil. There are 13 parties with 13 candidates. The favorite, according to the polls, Lula, appeared in Sao Bernardo Do Campo at the same stadium where in the nineteen seventies he led major labor demonstrations that launched his political career. He announced that within ten to fifteen days, he would present the program for his next term in office. Meanwhile, his main rival, Flavio Bolsonaro, focused his speech in Rio De Janeiro on security and combating organized crime. And as a consequence of the climate crisis, two people were killed and 10 were injured in a wildfire on the Greek island of Salamina, and in Hawaii, Hurricane Lala brought heavy rains, flooding, and submerged roads. The event highlights the vulnerability of island communities to increasingly extreme weather events.
