Leaving Annalise, the 2nd Katie Connell mystery and book 2 in the What Doesn’t Kill You super series: One unexpected and hotly fought-over little boy, two dead bodies, and a series of home vandalisms throw Texas attorney turned island chanteuse Katie Connell into a tizzy. Juggling all of this, Bloody Mary cravings, baggage, and the bad guys too, she wavers between the jumbie house that brought her back from the brink and the man she believes is the love of her life.
Featuring the muse for Patrick Flint (my adventurous, hard core dad, Dr. Peter Fagan) talking about the new release (March 17th!!!), SNAGGLE TOOTH and "Patrickisms."Our question will be:“SNAGGLE TOOTH originated with the author’s love for Black Tooth Mountain on the skyline view from her hometown of Big Horn, Wyoming. It was originally intended to include rock climbing, but that’s another story for another day. The opening scene (minus the murder, of course) is a pretty true-to-life event shared by her and father, so, of course, the role of airplanes in the family’s Wyoming life was another inspiration for the book. From there, it became about incorporating family, creating continuity with previous books/characters/bad guys, and showcasing the all-powerful and gorgeous Wyoming wilderness and weather. It should have been easy. But it was her fifth book to write in one year, and, so, it wasn’t. Of all the Patrick Flint books, this one is the one she likens most to “giving birth,” literally. (Luckily, it wasn’t the first one, or there might not be five with a sixth in the works!!) Yet, it turned out great (better than some of her kids), according to reviewers. This could be a Patrick Flintism. You know Patrick well now if you’ve read books 1-5. His traits. His statements. What would he tell the author about the labor in this book? And what would he tell you he learned in SNAGGLE TOOTH?”
The book discussion questions continue with SCAPEGOAT and a conversation IRL with "Susanne" (she is so cute!!)Here's the question of the week: Susanne Flint holds back and lets Patrick have his way at the beginning of SCAPEGOAT. At what point do you see her moxie and gumption take over?Be sure to stick with me when Susanne goes offline due to technical issues--she comes back in a flash. 🙂

She's bewitched by the voodoo spirit of an abandoned house in the rainforest and discovers that she's as much a danger to herself as the island's bad guys are. As the worst of her worlds collide, Katie drags herself back to the courthouse to defend her new friend Ava, an island local accused of stabbing the senator she's been sleeping with. Pamela Fagan Hutchins, a former attorney and native Texan, lived in the U.S. Virgin Islands for nearly ten years. She refuses to admit to taking notes for this novel during that time.

SAWBONES Discussion Question: HeroismPart 3 in the Patrick Flint Series Discussion Questions! An Interview with Perry IRL, talking SAWBONES and Heroism. It's no secret that the characters in the Patrick Flint series are real people--my family. Today I talk to the grown-up version of Perry about SAWBONES:“Perry witnesses a crime, and this fact puts his whole family at risk. But in the end, it is him who saves his mother and sister from a burning truck. In real life, Perry (named Paul) became a hero, a Colonel in the Marines. Do you believe people are capable of physical feats beyond what others would believe of them? Do you know people in your life like Perry? Are you?”
Snake Oil Discussion Questions and Snowheresville Kitchen "Tour"Part 2 in the Patrick Flint Series Discussion Questions Videos!Today you'll get to see our kitchen/wood burning stove, a bonus visit from our Belgian Malinois Georgia and her new skijoring harness, and hear a little bit about Snake Oil as I answer this question:"Patrick Flint chooses to volunteer at an Indian Health Services Clinic when family company is due to arrive for Christmas. Noble, selfish, or somewhere in between?"
