Football commentator and podcaster Matt Davies-Adams joins me to discuss his two lines of work. We discuss the art of commentary and Matt shares why, in special situations, saying nothing and letting the crowd noise do the talking is better than trying to match such raw emotion. He reveals who he preferred in the long-running rivalry between Barry Davies and John Motson and tells me about the best moment he has commentated on, which was produced by a player who he says is the best he has seen live for a sustained period of time. As a result of COVID-19, Matt explains how the day-to-day of his life has changed drastically as he balances being a father with recording podcasts remotely, and why having live football to commentate on again soon would provide an immense sense of relief.

In this episode, I was delighted to be joined by one of my old coaches, Jordan McCann, who worked at Luton Town for the majority of my time in the academy. Now, having joined Lincoln City as the club's academy manager, I caught up with Jordan to discuss what it is that makes him such an effective coach of young players, in particular combining knowledge with the art of teaching, which formed a central part of his studies at Loughborough University. With more than 10 years of experience in numerous roles within academy football, Jordan has big ambitions for the future and says there is still plenty more for him to learn. He also has high expectations for a couple of players we both knew at Luton, and are sure to go on to have successful careers just as Jordan is destined to do.

Professional footballer Cameron McGeehan tells me about his love of football from a young age and his career so far, including highlights such as leading Norwich City to FA Youth Cup glory in 2013. Cam remembers watching successful Chelsea sides in the early 2000s as a ballboy, and explains how he has maintained a strong work ethic since watching the Rocky films during his childhood. As a midfielder who has a good goalscoring record up to this point, Cam tells me some of the secrets of succeeding as a goalscoring midfielder, and we take look towards his future with Portsmouth this season and beyond.
